CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pa. —

As Christmas approaches in the coming days millions of Americans will hit the roads.

Triple A anticipates 93.3 million people will travel this holiday season.

They believe this year has the potential to be the busiest traveling season in six years.

Now that it is officially winter and the snow is starting to fall, PennDOT officials remind drivers of a few things.

"Give yourself some extra travel time because you don't know what you may encounter ahead. It is anticipated there will be a lot of people out there this holiday season. Make sure you are well rested when you head out there on the road. Also don't be a distracted driver," said Dawn Roussey from PennDOT District 2.

PennDOT officials said it't also important to check your car before you hit the road to assure you will have no problems.

"Make sure that before you start your trip, do sort of a pre-trip inspection. Make sure you have enough windshield washer fluid in there. If you haven't checked your antifreeze and things like that in your car you may experience some mechanical problems along the way. Check your oil as well," she said.
