PennDOT's Live Free Ride Alive Booth Sends Message To Bikers

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. —

The Thunder in the Valley event brings in nearly 200,000 motorcycle riders into Johnstown.

PennDOT hoped to send a message by setting up a digital kiosk and recording personal biking experiences with the crowd.

The program is called Live Free Ride Alive. Bikers record their experiences and their fellow riders can watch them at the booth and online.

Spokeswoman Pam Kane said everyone needs to be responsible by wearing safety gear, riding responsibly and not drinking and driving.

In Pennsylvania last year we had over 200 fatalities involving motorcycles and one deadly accident at last year's Thunder in the Valley event.

The Pennsylvania Motor Safety Program was also on had to offer advice on signing up for riding lessons. Leaders said always take a lesson before riding.
