Pennsylvania Law Protects Parents Involved In Accidental Shootings

The gun laws in Pennsylvania say that parents must have intent or knowledge of a child younger than 18 having a gun in order for the parent to face any criminal charges.

Because of the state laws, parents of the three recent accidental shootings have not been charged, because in all three cases the parents were not aware their children were playing with guns.

Since July, two children have died and one child is recovering from a serious leg injury after playing with guns.

Gun locks are also not required by state law, but they come highly recommended by authorities.
