Altoona —
On Thursday, Verizon Communications announced it will hire 64 full-time telephone operators to staff a new call center on 17th Street in Altoona. It's part of a move to hire a thousand operators nationwide to expand the company's operator services. Verizon plans to open that Altoona center later this spring.
