BLAIR COUNTY, Pa. —

A Blair County business owner who had six pit bull puppies poisoned at a recent event said she is disturbed by a new online threat to the animals.

Renea Metz is part of the Darrah Bull Bulley Rescue Organization, which finds safe homes for pit bulls. Metz said she was shocked to learn about a petition that's been circulating on the Internet calling for people to randomly kill a pit bull on Halloween night.

Metz said even if people fear pit bulls, there's no reason to target them.

"People love their dogs just like they love their kids, and even if it's any breed, for somebody to be publicly stating 'go out and kill these dogs,' it's scary," said Metz.

Police told 6 News they haven't heard much about the petition but said anyone who kills a dog that is not posing any kind of threat will face criminal charges.
