Plans For New Centre County Clinic Underway

Centre County —

Plans for a new medical facility in Centre County are underway, but some health officials aren't too pleased with the idea. Some area health officials say the new facility would bring too much competition and drive up prices of medical services for patients.

Geisinger Health Systems wants to build a 60-thousand square foot ambulatory care building in Grays Woods. According to the company, the facility would offer specialty services and allow patients to get care close to home. However, representatives from Mount Nittany Medical Center argue that the new facility would drive up prices for medical services.

Both sides voiced their opinions during a Patton Township Board of Supervisors meeting Wednesday night. It will be up to the board to decide on the future of the new facility. Some of the specialty services that would be offered by the clinic include women's and children's health care.
