JEFFERSON COUNTY, Pa. —
Police are continuing their investigation into a double-fatal crash Wednesday afternoon in Jefferson County.
Tyrell Ott, of St. Marys, was killed in the crash. Officials have not released the name the woman who also died.
Two others who survived the crash -- Christina Karnes and Devin Merts -- were airlifted to a Pittsburgh hospital. Their conditions had not been released as of noon on Thursday.
The crash happened in Clover Township on Route 28 just before 5 p.m. As of Wednesday night, officials did not know the cause of the one-car crash. Pennsylvania State Police in Punxsutawney are investigating.
State police said the car was traveling south when it went off the highway, clipped a tree stump and T-boned into the side of a tree. First responders said the powerful crash nearly tore the car apart.
Three fire companies from the area responded to the crash. After the crash, traffic was reduced to one lane for some time as crews cleared the scene. All three lanes reopened Wednesday night.
