Police Credit Operation Our Town

Local law enforcement agencies say the Operation Our Town effort is helping them crack down on the drug problem in Blair County.

The Blair County Drug Task Force, the state Attorney General's office, and local and state police have been joining forces in recent drug raids, many of which are taking place in Altoona. Police arrested multiple people between Friday and Monday night in the city on drug charges.

Deputy Chief Mitch Cooper with the Altoona police department said without funding from Operation Our Town, the police department couldn't afford to pay extra officers or their overtime for their work in the drug raids.

Many area businesses and residents have contributed to Operation Our Town's fund. If you're interested in making a contribution, you can contact the Blair County United Way.
