Police Investigating Theft At Clearfield Co. Walmart

LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, Pa. —

Police are investigating a case of theft at a Clearfield County Walmart.

They aren't releasing many details right now but said an employee stole $39,000 in merchandise from the store.

Officials with Walmart said the employee has since been fired.

Police have not released her name because charges have not been filed in the case.

They said cases like this one are not uncommon but the amount of items stolen makes it unique.

"It's not one of our largest thefts but it is a very large amount," said Lawrence Township Police Chief Jeff Fink.

Fink said businesses can guard against theft with a good security system and by keeping good financial records.
