Police: Man Arrested After Repeated Public Exposure On College Campus

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. —

Penn State police said a 27-year-old graduate student and university employee confessed to publicly exposing himself to others on the University Park campus.

Investigators said Daryl Mains was caught on surveillance video masturbating next to a woman using a laptop inside the Hetzel Union Building in April.

Officers told WJAC-TV that Mains confessed to the incident in April, as well as admitted to inappropriately touching himself in public while using a computer inside the Willard Building last Monday.

The Greensburg man, who is no longer affiliated with Penn State, is facing several counts of open lewdness, indecent exposure and disorderly conduct.

Sgt. Don Hazel told WJAC-TV that he’s noticed a growing number of reported indecent exposures in recent years.

"We take it very seriously,” said Hazel. “This is an abnormal behavior and we do determine, find out who is responsible for these types of incidents. We do prosecute to the fullest extent of the law."

Investigators said they’re still looking the men responsible for multiple public exposures while wearing masks on campus reported earlier this year.
