Police: Penn State Celebration Turns Into Riot

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. —

State College police have opened an investigation into what caused a celebration to become a riot in the downtown area after Penn State's football win over Ohio State Saturday night.

Video of the celebration turned riot was posted on-line video sharing site You Tube and it shows rioters setting fires, damaging vehicles and tearing down street lights and signs.

State College Police have since assigned four detectives to the case who will review video and pictures. Police said they expect to file charges soon, but no actual timetable has been announced.

Damage is estimated at nearly $10,000. Students arrested and convicted will not only face criminal charges, but also disciplinary action from Penn State University.
