Police shut down area near hiking trail in Somerset Co.

By Melanie Gillespie

SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa. —

Several calls were made into our newsroom Sunday afternoon.

Neighbors in the Meyersdale area said there were several state police cars canvassing the area near a hiking trail.

6News had a crew near the trail just north of Glade City.

Fire departments had a portion of the trail blocked off.

State Police in Somerset released very few details Sunday night.

They told 6News there were several troopers on scene for some time, and had the area buttoned up.

Police did not release why they were in the area.

Our cameras caught several emergency vehicles in the area, including a crime lab truck.

State police are not expected to release more details until sometime Monday.
