Police: Travelodge Employee Arrested After Stealing From Room

By Brittany Boyer

BROOKVILLE, Pa. —

A hotel employee is arrested for stealing guests' items at a hotel. She is now a "guest" of the state.

Brookville police told 6 News Jenifer Guthrie faces multiple charges following an incident on Dec. 22.

Officials said Guthrie, an employee of the Travelodge in Brookville, stole items from a room within the hotel.

Police said the three-floor hotel offers both hotel rooms as well as efficiency apartments.

Guthrie, a housekeeper, was permitted to clean hotel rooms, but not apartments, said police.

Officials said Guthrie entered an apartment and stole a checkbook, pills and written prescription slips.

Brookville police officer Sean Weaver said Guthrie then tried to have the prescription for oxycodone filled at the Medicine Shoppe.

Weaver said store employees denied her request to fill the prescription.

Guthrie is now behind bars at the Jefferson County Jail, police said.

Weaver said Guthrie will face the following charges: Burglary, criminal trespassing, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, possession of controlled substances and more.

Weaver told 6 News, officials are now investigating whether or not Guthrie is involved with other reported thefts at the hotel dating back to October.
