Police: UPJ student shot during home invasion

By Maria Miller

RICHLAND TOWNSHIP, Pa. —

Police are working to track down two men who they said shot a Pitt Johnstown student in the stomach at his off-campus apartment Sunday night.

Police said the shooters stormed into the Bloomfield apartment complex not too far from campus and pointed a gun at the victim and his friend, before pulling the trigger.

Police said David Consiglio was shot in the stomach with a handgun. They said a friend drove him to the hospital because they thought it would be faster than calling 911.

So far police said they don't have a motive because they're still putting the pieces together themselves. In fact police said they didn't even find out about the shooting until the hospital called 911 to tell them they had a shooting victim.

Police said they started gathering information as Consiglio was taken for emergency surgery.

"As far as we know right now, nothing appears to have been taken. They were just inside their apartment and these people came to the apartment and came in and basically held them at gunpoint," said Richland Township Police Chief Mike Burgan. "We're trying to work on some other leads that we have and we're reviewing some video surveillance cameras from the area to try to obtain information."

Anyone with information should contact police.
