CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. —
The Ebensburg Borough pool is looking to make some changes, including two or three slides, beach access for the handicapped, and lap lanes for serious swimmers.
Recreation Director Matt Pfeil said they are inching closer to their $1 million renovation project.
He said the pool is one of the oldest in the state.
Leaks are costly with constant patching and refilling.
Since 2008 the "Friends of the Pool" committee, a group dedicated to revamping the community attraction, has been fundraising.
They have put a couple thousand dollar dent in the one-hundred-thousand dollars they are responsible for raising.
They have applied for a $300,000 grant.
They are still exploring other funding options.
"If we're going to spend the type of money that it costs to fix a filter system and piping and decking, we want to make it worthwhile for the community. We want to make it usable, not just for the kids, but for the whole community," said Pfeil.
Pfeil said they are hoping to start renovations after this pool season if funds fall into place.
