Preparations Under Way For Annual 'Showcase For Commerce'

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. —

Preparations were under way Wednesday for Johnstown's Showcase For Commerce, the region's largest business exposition.

The showcase starts Thursday and includes 173 businesses.

The event is a primarily a time for defense contractors to make contacts for new business.

Despite the economy, floor space was sold out and there was still a waiting list Wednesday for companies hoping to get a spot. Nearly 40 vendors this year are new to the event.

Organizers said the event at the War Memorial Arena is not only good for local and regional defense companies but also for the downtown area.
