Proposed Commuter Railway

Two veteran lawmakers want to create a commuter rail line between Pittsburgh and Altoona. Rick Geist of Blair County, House Transportation Chairman, and Johnstown-area Senator John Wozniak, are trying to have $2 million included in proposed legislation to help mass transit in Pennsylvania. The money would be used to lease 92 rail passenger cars that can travel up to 70 miles an hour. Projected stops for the line include Pittsburgh, Jeannette, Greensburg, Latrobe, Johnstown and Altoona.
