Proposed Text Ban For Truck Drivers

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. —

Many drivers are guilty of texting while driving their cars. It's even a problem with some tractor trailers drivers. Now the U.S. Department of Transportation is working to put a stop to it.

U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray Lahood wants to put a ban texting and driving behind the wheel of a big rig.

The Department of Transportation and Cornell University are seeking public comments on the idea. They've created a Web site with information on the proposal and a place for people to voice their concerns.

Federal officials will look over the reviews after 30 days.
