PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. —

A Jefferson County business is getting some statewide recognition for its community service efforts.

Fox's Pizza Den in Punxsutawney recently received the Pennsylvania Restaurant Neighbor Award.

The Restaurant Neighbor Award was created 15 years ago. It honors restaurants that have exemplified outstanding community service.

Fox's was selected as a statewide winner for its annual Pizza and Prevention campaign.  The fundraiser started in 2002 in conjunction with the one year anniversary of September 11.

Fox's sells its "Big Daddy" pizzas for $9.11 with the proceeds of each sale going to the Punxsutawney fire department.

In the fundraisers 11 years, Fox's has donated more than $170,000 to the fire department for equipment upgrades.

Fox's has also donated more than 3,000 smoke detectors to the community.

Fox's is the only restaurant in Western Pennsylvania to receive the award for 2013.

The restaurant is also the only Fox's Pizza in franchise history to receive the award.

The four national winners of the 2013 Restaurant Neighbor Award will each receive a $5,000 contribution to continue their community programs and be presented the awards in April in Washington, D.C.
