Random act of kindness in remembrance of Newtown

By Kerri Corrado

One local woman experienced a random act of kindness.

She found a Christmas card on the window of her car. The card was anonymous and in remembrance of the young victims and families of the Newtown shooting in Connecticut.

The card read, “ How do you fight evil in this world. You fight it with good. This act of kindness is in memory of a child who lost his/her life yesterday. Make their world a better place. Do good and Merry Christmas.”

Pratt says she sat in her car in the Boscov parking lot in Altoona and cried. She even tried to look for the mystery person who left this for her, but no one was to be found.

“ So I have no idea who this is from, but I want them to know that it warmed my heart so much that I am on a quest now to pay it forward, “ she said.

She says she is going to add money to it and pay it forward for a child in need.

She hopes her story serves as an inspiration to not only remember the victims in Newtown, but to spread good throughout the world.

"I also want to tell them that I shared it with a friend this morning at church and that she loved it so much that she is going to do it too,” she said.

She says she even might frame it and put it on her wall to remember that it is acts of kindness, like this one, that gives the reason for the season.

“ I want to tell them that this is the best present of all time, “ she said.
