Hitting the beach this summer is something you can now do for a day -- without having to travel far from home. The Cambria Somerset Authority is clearing trees and stumps at the Quemahoning Reservoir for a new recreation park. When complete, it will include a public beach, pavilion, restrooms and camping area. CSA officials say a recent study of the region indicated a lack of outdoor recreation opportunities. The CSA also plans to install a picnic area at the Wilmore Reservoir. The project at the Que is expected to open to the public Memorial Day weekend.
