Remembering Velda Malloy

Ebensburg —

As Channel 6 spoke with people around the Ebensburg area, one thing was clear...Velda Malloy was a very well known, well liked woman. In fact one person we spoke with had a daughter who was friends with Malloy's daughter. What's interesting is they all died tragic deaths. Sandy Little of Cresson lost her daughter years ago in a car accident. She along with two other friends were killed one right after the other in seperate accidents, including Malloy's daughter Marla. Little says she was shocked to learn about Malloy's death and says she is furious over the fact that Chris Miller, the man police say heard Velda pleasing for her life from the trunk of her car, is not facing any charges at this time. Authorities would not comment on Miller. As for Nathan Fortson, Malloy's son David says he's glad the county is spending the money to seek the death penalty. Even if they raise taxes, he says it's well worth it. Velda Malloy is described as a strong, independent woman. In fact, many people we spoke with say they are actually scared for their own safety because they say, if it can happen to a nice woman like Velda Malloy, it could happen to anyone.
