Rep. Shuster Reacts To Rep. Murtha's Death

After hearing the news of Rep. Jack Murtha's death, Rep. Bill Shuster said it's a sad day for Pennsylvania and the entire country.

Shuster said he was 12 years old the first time he met Murtha. He said his father, former congressman Bud Shuster, worked with Murtha for 28 years.

Shuster said since the two had side-by-side districts, he and Murtha worked together on infrastructure projects and bringing jobs to the area.

He said he attributes Murtha's hard work and efforts for his milestone accomplishment as the longest serving representative in Pennsylvania.

Murtha died at 1:18 p.m. at a hospital in Arlington, Va. A spokesperson said Murtha's family was with him when he died Monday after suffering complications from gallbladder surgery.

Murtha was 77 years old.
