Repairs Finishing At War Memorial Before Game

Johnstown —

Last winter too much snow caused part of the wall of the War Memorial to buckle. The day before the game, construction workers are finishing the wall that was damaged. Snow on the roof last winter caused the top of the walls to buckle damaging the building. Almost all the repairs are done except for part of the wall on the front of the building.

Jim Vautar is the General Manager of the Cambria County War Memorial Arena. He tells Channel 6 News, "It'll all be buttoned up. You won't be able to see out unless there's a small crack and like I said, in another 2 weeks, it'll all be buttoned up before the real weather hits." 12:57

Vautar goes on to say the arena is ready for the Chiefs game. The seats are fixed and will be cleaned. And to make sure they don't have another problem with the snow this winter an aluminum ring has been put up between the roof and wall to support the snow. The Chief's home opener is Saturday night.

Inside, Chief fans have the chance to use luxury boxes this season. There are 3 of them starting at $375 a game. Arena officials say a box has been rented for every game this season.
