ALTOONA, Pa. —

A Penn State Altoona sorority has been suspended as police investigate an incident last weekend in which a visitor was severely beaten.

Friday's Altoona Mirror reports that school officials notified Gamma Phi Beta International of the suspension.

The sorority is now prohibited from holding functions or recruiting new members.

Reports indicate the beating stemmed from a stolen bottle of vodka.
