Ribbon Cutting at Bedford County Historical Society

By Stef Davis

BEDFORD, Pa

A new beginning by looking to the past. The Bedford County Historical Society cut the ribbon on its new location Saturday afternoon.

Glenden Casteel, President of the Bedford County Historical Society says, "As the saying goes, you have to look to the past to know your future. That’s what we're trying to do here, preserve the history of this area."

And one of those people looking into the past is someone with a very bright future--10 year old Deegan Ramsey of Everett. He spent the day at the new historical society with his mom, Jennifer.

Deegan says, "I saw a picture of my great grandpa and a picture of my grandma. It was awesome.”

And Deegan's mom, Jennifer, thinks it’s pretty awesome, too.

Jennifer Hall, Deegan’s mom, says, "My son has been an avid history fan for a while so i thought this would be a great event for him.”

Because the folks who run the historical society of course won't be around forever, it’s up to future generations, like Deegan, to keep the stories told and the past alive.

Hall adds, "I think it’s wonderful. This is something he's been interested in for a very long time."

And above the historical society on the second floor of this building is a brand new banquet hall that can be rented out for special events.
