Richland Coach Has New Educational Role

RICHLAND TOWNSHIP, Pa. —

A local school boards decision to stop administrators from serving in more than one role started Internet rumors that the community's beloved coach and principal was being forced out.

On Monday night, the Richland School board set the record straight.

School board members voted unanimously to keep Brandon Bailey as head coach of the Richland High School varsity football team and to make him Educational Director. Bailey will no longer serve as the school's principal.

"The perception always was when he was acting on as principal which hat was he wearing? Was he wearing the hat of the principal or the hat of the coach?" said Jim Roccio, Richland School Board president.

Bailey will continue his duties as principal until a new person is hired. School board members will now create a new policy about administrators serving in multiple roles in the school district.
