Route 219 Expansion Could Get New Life

A four-lane expansion of Route 219 between Somerset and Meyersdale could be inching closer to reality again.

A Somerset County group is pushing local lawmakers on Capitol Hill to reverse a 2008 change to a federal law.

That legislation said money collected on the Pennsylvania Turnpike could no longer be used to get matching federal dollars to help fund road projects in the state.

On Tuesday, Rep. Bill Shuster introduced a bill to allow the toll credits once again.

WJAC will update this story as new information becomes available.
