Salvation Army Scholarship Lacks Applicants

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. —

The Salvation Army in Johnstown is looking for high school graduates and non-traditional college hopefuls for their Harvey Katherine Supowitz Scholarship.

Last year, they had 15 applicants, and this year, only one person was interested.

There's no essay required, just a financial need for the money. They want everyone from single moms to the unemployed who want to further their education. The chosen school doesn't have to be a college. It can be a culinary school or technical school.

If you want to find out how to sign up call the Salvation Army at 814-539-3110. The deadline to apply is April 16.
