CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. —

A day after Jerry Sandusky's trial on alleged child sex abuse crimes was ordered to be delayed until June 5, his defense team and prosecutors are still at odds.

6 News has learned that Sandusky's attorney, Joe Amendola, is likely to ask the judge for a further delay in the trial. Amendola said still wants more evidence to build and prepare his case.

In a statement to 6 News, Amendola wrote, "We don't know if we will have all the information we need and are entitled to receive prior to the new trial date, but we will do our very best to be ready to proceed to trial on June 5th. The attorney general has conducted a 3 year secret grand jury investigation into this matter. We've only had a couple of months since we received our first discovery materials in mid-January to begin preparing our defense."

Sandusky, a former Penn State assistant football coach, faces 52 criminal charges he sexually abused 10 boys over a 15-year period, allegations he denies.

During a meeting in Bellefonte on Thursday, the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office told Judge John Cleland that the office has given Amendola access to all of the evidence the law required. Attorney general's officials also asked the judge to ignore Amendola's request to dismiss all charges against Sandusky.

The attorneys agreed on one item: During the trial, jury selection interviews will be done one at a time. Once chosen, the jurors will be sequestered throughout the trial.

The trial was previously scheduled to begin May 15. Stay with 6 News, WJACTV.com and WJACTV.com Mobile for continuing coverage.
