Seven homeless after apartment fire in Johnsonburg

JOHNSONBURG, Pa. —

At least seven people are homeless following an apartment fire in Johnsonburg.

The fire happened along Penn Street in Johnsonburg sometime after 11 a.m on Friday.

Officials believe the fire started in a kitchen inside one of the apartments. 

Chief Bob Dickey of the Johnsonburg Fire Department said everyone made it out safely. 

Four apartments within the structure were affected.

Dickey believes the structure is a total loss. 

Firefighters were commended for their quick work and also preventing the fire from spreading to nearby homes. 

Officials said some nearby homes did receive minor water and smoke damage. 

The American Red Cross is assisting the seven people that are now homeless as a result of the fire. 

A state police fire marshal is investigating.
