Severe Weather Leads To Flooding

As Pennsylvania remains under both a drought and a flood watch, the severe weather locally has resulted in numerous problems.

After weeks of near-drought conditions, the area is getting heavy rains at once, leading to flash flooding in the region.

The rain is expected to last through tomorrow evening, and another 2 to 4 inches are possible.

Flash floods in Jefferson and Indiana counties resulted in several road closings, including parts of Route 119.

The Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency said it is "critical" for people to pay attention to flood watches and warnings and to be aware of flooding.

Agency officials said a car can be swept away in just 12 inches of water.

Monday morning's heavy rain also made for a sloppy commute. Drivers in Blair County dealt with ponding on roads and heavy fog.

Travelers are reminded to slow down when visibility is diminished, and if conditions worsen drivers should pull off of the roadway until the severe weather passes.
