Shooting Victims Well-Known in Community

By Stef Davis

A sad and somber Sunday in Blair County. Hundreds heading to Grace Brethren Church in Martinsburg for services for 58-year-old kimberly Scott of Duncansville--the first victim in Friday’s deadly shooting in Geeseytown. Friends say Scott was very involved in her church, Juniata Valley Gospel Church--the place where she was killed while decorating for a children’s holiday party. Scott was a mother to one grown son, and three grandchildren. She had a close group of friends, and was well-known in the community.

Pastor Mike Ryhne, Geeseytown Lutheran church, says, “This is a very small town. Everyone knows everyone if not related to everyone."

The second victim, 60-year-old Ken Lynn of Hollidaysburg was a grandpa. Friends say he was also very involved in his church, Zion Lutheran. His son-in-law, 38-year-old Bill Rhodes, Jr., was the third person killed. Rhodes was married to Lynn’s daughter, Jen. They were high school sweethearts. The couple has two school-aged kids--son Zach and daughter Kaitlin.

And just days after these three innocent lives were taken, this community is still in shock. Coming together Sunday to mourn the first of the three victims--a mourning that will continue in this tight-knit town for quite some time.

Services for the other vicitms, Ken Lynn and Bill Rhodes Jr. will be held after Christmas.
