Showcase Exhibitor Excluded From Gov't Contracts

CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. —

One of the companies participating in this year's Showcase For Commerce won't be able to score any government contracts, at least for the time being.

Kuchera Defense Systems was raided by the FBI and agents from the justice department this past winter. WJAC has learned that the company is now on a list preventing it from getting new contracts.

WJAC found a government website that states that Kuchera Companies are excluded from getting new contracts because of the continuing investigation into their business practices. Ron and Bill Kuchera, as well as their company, are on the Excluded Parties List System Web site. It highlights all government contractors who aren't allowed to take on new projects for the time being.

According to the Web site, the reason they are being suspended is because of the pending investigation or legal proceedings related to accusations of fraud, antitrust violations, embezzlement, theft, forgery, bribery, false statements and more.

The company's attorney, Dennis McGlynn said that Kuchera Defense Systems and the Kuchera brothers are appealing the suspension through the Department of Navy appeal procedures process. They hope to have the suspension lifted as soon as possible.

The contract suspension went into effect in April, which was several months after the FBI raid.

It's not clear what is happening with the investigation.
