Skeletal Remains Found In Local Home

HEMPFIELD, Pa. —

The skeletal remains of an infant were found in the home of a woman who recently died.

State police in Greensburg say an elderly woman from Hempfield Township, Westmoreland County, passed away recently. Her adult children wre going through her belongings when they found a suitcase under her bed. After they broke open the lock, they found the skeletal remains of an infant wrapped in clothing and immediately called police.

The county coroner is performing an autopsy to determine the gender of the infant and to figure out when it may have died.

Police are not releasing the name of the deceased woman or her family.
