CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pa. —

On election day voters in Pennsylvania are not required to show a photo ID.

Earlier this month a Pennsylvania judge blocked the voter ID law weeks before the Nov. 6 election.

6 News reporter Brittany Boyer discovered, while you are not required to show your ID some counties will still be asking to see it.

"This election we are doing a soft roll out just like we did in the spring election for the primary. You are going to be asked for your photo ID but you do not have to show it," said Clearfield County elections director, Dawn Graham.

Graham said the Department of State is asking municipalities to still ask to see photo ID's on Election Day.

"It is a directive from the Department of State. We're still moving forward that the law will sometime in the future take effect. So they are preparing for that scenario," she said.

Graham said so far more than 51,000 people are registered to vote in Clearfield County.

"Please take your ID's with you. You still need to show them, however it's not required," she said.

The American Civil Liberties Union has submitted a filing requesting a judge to order the state to stop misleading messages over whether you must show photo identification on Election Day.
