Somerset County Feeling The Effects Of Snow

SOMERSET, Pa. —

Somerset County is feeling the effects of the never-ending snowfall, and local boroughs dipped into their funds to pay for the maintenance.

Somerset Borough Finance Director Brett Peters estimates it already spent $30,000 in overtime to pay workers and private contractors to clear away snow. Peters said this is the most overtime hours it ever logged.

The borough isn't the only ones feeling the pain Somerset County schools were closed on Wednesday, one of the many days they have to make up in the summer. Right now the scheduled last day of the school calendar year is June 9.
