Somerset County Man Pleads Guilty To Shooting 5-Year-Old Boy

Somerset County —

A Somerset County man pled guilty to shooting a little boy while he was at a soccer tournament.

Larry Lampel Jr. admitted in court he shot Jason Masiello, but Lampel said the 5-year-old wasn't his target.

Instead, he said he was aiming at a chipmunk. Police say it is illegal to shoot animals with a semi-automatic pistol.

In addition, state game law requires anyone shooting animals to identify their target before shooting.
