Somerset County On Alert

Somerset County —

Police sat the burglary spree happened over the weekend when three townships and one borough were hit. Three businesses and two homes were hit between Friday night and Saturday morning.

The burglaries happened in Stoneycreek, Shade, and Jefferson Townships as well Boswell. According to published reports, the burglar used an unidentified object to smash a panel of glass in the front door of Duppstadts Country Store but they still couldn't get in. At Mike's Market another glass front door is smashed and damage left on the inside. Dan Beaner at Beaner's Marine and C&B Pizza is dealing with damage and money lost. Both of his cash registers were ripped out of the wall.

Beaner said, "There's all this hard work and all the money that's gone and you feel like heck! Somebody basically violated your space."

Two homes in Jefferson Township and Boswell were also broken into on Saturday. A saw was stolen from one house and prescription pills stolen from another.

State Police are investigating these burglaries but they ask you to lock your home and watch out for your neighbors. If you have information call the State Police at 814-445-4104.
