Somerset County Woman Pinned Under Awning

QUEMAHONING TOWNSHIP, Pa. —

An elderly woman from Somerset County was pinned under her awning Tuesday morning, and neighbors found her almost 45 minutes later.

Neighbors said the woman was knocking off icicles from her front porch and that's when the awning fell. She called for help and a neighbor from across the street called 911 to help her.

Jackie Sturky was that neighbor. Sturky said she tried to lift the awning off of the woman's feet but it was too heavy.

Somerset County fire crews responded and took her to the hospital. The woman suffered from head and leg injuries. Conemaugh Hospital officials said she's in fair condition.
