Somerset Students Mourn Loss Of Classmate

Students in the Somerset County School District began the new school year with heavy hearts after learning a classmate was killed in a dirt bike accident over the weekend.

The Cambria County coroner's office said 15-year-old Christopher Truxal died at Memorial Medical Center following the accident along Route 31 in Jefferson Township, Somerset County.

Deputy Coroner Jim Zangalia said Truxal's dirt bike was hit by a pickup truck and he was not wearing a helmet.

Truxal would have started his freshman year at Somerset on Monday.

Somerset officials said grief counseling will be made available to high school students.
