SOMERSET, Pa. —

A police officer said a Somerset woman offered him a bribe to avoid having her father's car towed and impounded.

According to police reports, Lindsay Burrows, 29, offered the bribe to the officer on Tuesday after she was stopped and found to have a suspended license.

Officer Christopher Pile said he stopped Burrows because he mistakenly believed she had outstanding arrest warrants against her. In the process, however, Pile said he learned her license was suspended and told her he had to impound the car.

Investigators said Burrows wanted to avoid that because the car belongs to her father. She was calling her mother for assistance when she reportedly asked Pile, "Do you take bribes? I've got money."

Burrows is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing Tuesday.
