Southmont Fire Department's Jubilee Still On

Rumors have been swirling that a Johnstown Fire Department will not have a jubilee this year. Thursday WJAC-TV caught up with the president of the fire department, who set the record straight. The department will have its jubilee this year.

The jubilee is set for the week of Memorial Day.

Just like everyone else, the economy is hurting the department. It needs a $300,000 fire truck and has to upgrade equipment. It costs about $2,600 to suit each firefighter with proper gear.

The jubilee is one of the two big fundraisers the department holds throughout the year.
