Spinach Bought In Indiana County Tests Positive For E. coli

Related

Pennsylvania health officials confirmed Tuesday that a bag of spinach purchased in Indiana County tested positive for the E. coli bacteria.

A state lab identified the strain of E. coli in a sample of Dole-brand baby spinach that was purchased on or around Sept. 8.

Samples from the individual who was believed to have been sickened by eating the spinach are still being tested.

This bag is the third nationwide tied to the deadly E. coli strain. The first was found in Utah over the weekend and the other in New Mexico early last week.

The discoveries helped health officials identify a specific batch of spinach from a California processing plant as a possible source of the E. coli outbreak.

The outbreak has sickened 175 people across the country and is linked to at least one death.
