State College High School Renovation Plans 60% Complete, According To Architect

Centre County —

The State College School Board continues to move forward with renovation plans for the high school despite growing opposition.

Monday night, the board got an update from the architect on details of the plan.

The plans are now 60 percent finished, according to what the architects told board members. They gave board members a more detailed view of how the building is shaping up. Additions and changes will be made to what is currently the North building of the high school to accommodate students in all four grades. The South building will be demolished.

Several board members said they were pleased with how the plans were turning out. Meanwhile, parents and concerned members of the community who have been mounting a campaign to have the board stop the renovation plans and consider alternatives were on hand for the meeting. The group has been gathering signatures and rallying support for its cause. Many asked questions and continued to express concern about the cost of the renovation plans and other issues at the board meeting.

The League of Women voters has a meeting planned for Wednesday at 7 p.m. at State College high school's south auditorium to discuss the renovation issue.
