State College Police Chief Reassures Public Following High School Drug Arrest

STATE COLLEGE —

State College Police Chief Tom King said he wants to reassure the public that students at an area high school are safe. This comes after the arrest of a 26-year-old State College man for allegedly selling drugs to two students who attend State College Area High School.

The suspect, Joshua Emanuelson, allegedly collected cash from a student on school property and later gave marijuana to the student at the YMCA.

King appeared before the State College School Board Monday night to assure everyone that safeguards are in place to protect the students from drugs.

"I think what is important is you do your best at prevention and have a community that doesn't tolerate illegal drugs and alcohol abuse and so on," said King. "And then, when situations do arise, I think what we need to count on from the police and from the community and from the school district is that the appropriate action will be taken."

Police arrested the suspect in this case after investigating an anonymous tip.
