State Finds Hundreds Of Violations At Cambria County Care Home

A Cambria County personal care home has been closed after officials found more than 200 violations.

The Department of Welfare closed Brunnets Care Home early Thursday.

Among the findings was a sexual assault. Officials said a male resident was sexually assaulted by another resident, which resulted in medical treatment. A doctor who gave specific care orders to the home said the home did not follow his orders.

State officials found the violations after they went to the home in October for a license inspection. The owners of the home said they were shocked.

“There was no notice of this. I don't know what the decency (is) of closing a personal care home during this season,” said William Brunnet.

The state further accused the home of mixing residents’ money with the home’s funds. Further, one resident could not enter their own room without walking through another resident’s room. The report also says one of the bedrooms had a 6-inch spot of a dried yellow substance that appeared to be vomit.

All of the families of the dozen or so residents have been notified and the residents will be moved to other homes in the area.
