State Inspector Examines Public Safety Building

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. —

A spokesman for the Department of Labor and Industry confirmed someone filed a complaint about the safety of Johnstown's public safety building.

A state inspector examined the building Tuesday and will send the city a report on the state's findings.

City leaders admit the building is old but said it is safe.

For several years Johnstown City Council members have discussed repairing the building. The former city manager manager, Curt Davis, applied for stimulus money two years ago but the competitive funding never came through.

"If there was money available, there isn't a corner of the city that could use something, but certainly if we had the funds, something would be done," said Rose Howarth, a Johnstown city council member.

The public safety building houses the police, fire and other departments.
