State Official Says Jail Employees Not Liable For Inmate's Suicide

A state official said Somerset County Jail employees did everything correctly when processing an inmate who killed himself in jail.

The state secretary of corrections said the jail staff exceeded what would normally be required.

William Cornell, who was charged with murder, committed suicide in his cell days after his arrest.
