State Police Investigating Counterfeit Bills In Huntingdon

Chris Magill just started as manager at the County Garden Market two weeks ago and already he's dealing with an incident of counterfeit bills.

State police in Huntingdon are investigating five separate incidents of counterfeit bills being used at local businesses.

Magill got a call from his bank earlier this week. An official said a $50 bill he deposited was fake.

Country Garden Market is located on Route 22.

"That was one of our busiest weekends, Memorial Day weekend," Magill said. "We were selling flowers and all that. We didn't think much of it. Even the counterfeit pen passed it."

Right down the road, a clerk at Puff 'n Snuff in Huntingdon Plaza was also handed a phony $20 bill

Police said when she asked for ID, the man fled. But he was caught on the store's surveillance camera.

Magill said he's installed a light at the cash registers to avoid future counterfeit incidents.
